We’re in the midst of an arts and crafts renaissance, with maker suppliers and marketplaces continuing to boom during the pandemic. And it’s no wonder: people have historically turned to making during times of turmoil, and – as access to other activities slowed or stopped at different phases of the pandemic – many of us turned to creative pursuits that we could do independently, in isolation, but that would still bring others joy and bring us closer together. Making, after all, is inherently communal, as we learn from each other, create and build together – and pass knowledge, inspiration and ideas from one artist, generation, community and artform to another.
At Rock Paper Scissors, we believe that everyone has a unique perspective to share with the world and everyone should have access to the creative arts. We revel in sharing the fun, self-care and community that comes from creative expression, from the act of creating something unique, beautiful and functional to share with our families, friends and communities. We welcome makers of all genres, formats, styles, experience levels, backgrounds and walks of life, and we’re dedicated to learning from each other, uplifting each other and constantly helping each other improve, problem-solve and innovate.
So we’re excited to launch Rock Paper Scissors Experiences, a collection of classes, workshops and community activities for makers new and old. Our aim is to share the arts and crafts we love, build community, share knowledge from our wonderful makers and inspire creativity in our community. We’re launching with a set of 13 initial experiences – including drawing, printmaking, writing, upcycling and even yoga – suitable for all levels, and we’re planning much more to come.
