Two Day Workshop
10:30am to 4:30pm saturday 6th June and Saturday  13th June 2026
£160 per person -£80 per day (includes all materials, inks, papers, and professional screen printing equipment - tea cofee and biscuits).In this hands-on two day workshop you will learn how to design and print your own small edition of original screen prints to take home.Screen printing is a bold and versatile printmaking technique that uses stencils and layered inks to create striking artworks. During the workshop you will be guided through the full process, from developing your design to producing your finished prints.


Day 1: Introduction to screen printing, demonstrations of the process, and preparing your artwork and paper stencils ready for printing.


• Day 2: Printing your designs, experimenting with colour layering and effects, and producing your own small edition of prints.


Through hands-on practice you will:


• Gain an understanding of the screen printing process
• Learn how to create artwork suitable for printing
• Explore hand drawn and hand -cut paper stencils and expressive mark making
• Experiment with ink mixing and colour layering
• Produce your own small edition of prints to take home


This workshop is perfect for complete beginners, artists wanting to try printmaking, or anyone curious about screen printing.You will benefit from personalised guidance and support from an experienced tutor throughout the workshop. By the end of the course you will have produced a series of prints and gained the confidence to continue exploring screen printing in your own practice.


All materials, inks, papers, and professional screen printing equipment are provided.


Places are limited to 8 participants to allow plenty of individual support.


Our studio is located in the heart of Canterbury’s historic city centre, making it easy to turn the workshop into a creative day out. We’re just a short walk from a great selection of independent cafés, restaurants, galleries, and shops, perfect for exploring during the lunch break or after the session.

Rob McDonald is a multi-disciplined artist and designer with over 30 years of teaching experience across higher education institutions. He recently taught at UCA Canterbury as Pathway Leader for Foundation Studies, Year Lead for BA Visual Communication and Senior Lecturer for MA Visual Communication.
Rob has delivered workshops at the Royal Academy, Turner Contemporary and the Creative Folkestone Triennial.
His practice spans contemporary graphics, illustration and fine art, working on commissioned projects for publishing and advertising as well as self-initiated work, curating and exhibiting internationally. His work explores visual narratives through layered print, collage, book formats and silkscreen, combining colour, mark-making and structured imagery.
