Date: Sunday 17th October - 6pm

Using found objects, fortunate events and possibly beautiful recollections from the audience, the songwriter Richard Navarro will attempt to write and perform a brand new album completely in the moment.

Appearing a week before his band's immersive show 'Tingbao' debuts at the main Canterbury Festival on Sunday 24th October, expect insights into the songwriting process and possibly (just possibly) a handful of beautiful and inspired never-heard-before new songs...

"Richard is a genius. He has exalted words in such a way that angels could hear them." Lemn Sissay

"Fantastic" Imelda May

"Finely-crafted songwriting" Joan Armatrading

"Staggeringly talented" Charlie Andrew (producer Alt-J/Madness)

"An amazing voice" Lin Marsh

Evocative, uplifting and – in Joan Armatrading’s words – ‘finely crafted’, the songs of Richard Navarro take the folk traditions of melody and storytelling and supercharge them through live looping and improvisation.

Performing at theatres and festivals across the UK as a duo with Nicholas Thurston and as composer and singer for the Dreamsailors collective, Richard’s epic, soaring vocals combine lyricism with sharp social commentary in powerful arrangements that incorporate violin, keyboards, brass, infectious bass lines and driving percussion.
